When the body is supposed to ill need rest in order to recover quickly. But the survey found that approximately one-third or 30 per cent of permanent employees come to work despite illness for fear job.
A survey involving 1,600 people found about 30 percent of workers are now more likely to force themselves into the office despite being ill for fear their work will influence economic factors.
"Our research shows the economic downturn has made people more often go to work despite illness for fear of losing his job," said Marcus Powell, managing director, Nuffield Health, as quoted from Mirror.co.uk,
Powell says this of course can be bad
for the employee and the business, because health is one important factor in security work.
"Effective health and well-being to help people have a body to stay in shape physically and mentally, but if he was to come to work when ill can only infect others," said Dr Andy Jones, medical director of Nuffield Health.
Dr Jones said that people who come to work in spite of illness is called presenteeism. This condition will worsen the level of stress and is unable to work effectively and to influence the productivity and coworkers.
"Every doctor will recommend workers to stay home and rest if the condition of the body is unwell, especially workers who require a high concentration or often meet people," said Dr. Jones.
Employees who force themselves into the office will plunge on the physical and mental fatigue, exacerbating the disease and requires a long recovery time because of his endurance decreases.
In addition, for companies, presenteeisme happens it will trigger greater losses than if the employee is resting at home, because of the stress experienced workers will reduce productivity.
