The uterus transplant in the United Stated First Failed


Ohio - Following the lead of Sweden, the United States held a first womb transplant operation some time ago. However, due to complications, the operation was declared a failure.

Unfortunately, a team of doctors from the Cleveland Clinic, Ohio performing this procedure does not explain more about what kind of complications experienced by the patient.

"It is with regret that we must convey our patients, Lindsey recently experienced complications so that the uterus that had been grafted to be reappointed," the hospital said in a statement.

For now, they are also conducting an investigation into the cause of the failure.

But in a statement, Lindsey expressed his gratitude to the team of doctors from the Cleveland Clinics acting diligently to ensure health and safety.

"Due to complications, I should lose the uterus that. But so far my condition is fine," he said, as reported by Reuters.

Lindsey was selected as the first patient in the US who undergo uterine transplant surgery since last February. He was born with a rare condition in which he did not have a uterus or womb. He was also the first patient of 10 patients scheduled to undergo a similar procedure at the Cleveland Clinic.

Womb transplant operation undertaken Lindsey held on 24 February and lasted for 9 hours. In this procedure Lindsey received a uterus from a donor who had died in the 30s.

To ensure the success of this operation, a team from the Cleveland Clinics also received direct guidance of a team of doctors from Sweden who has been successfully transplanted to 9 patients and five of them had given birth.

But with the failure of this Lindsey, estimated the hospital would put 9 another transplant surgery is already planned. For this program, the Cleveland Clinic also claimed to have conducted screening for 250 potential recipients.
