Have a friend who likes to be alone and unhappy crowd? Not shy, it's a sign you're an introvert friend.
The concept is a bit shy introvert and collide. But by definition, these two things are very different. Louis A Schmidt, Director of the Child Emotion Laboratory, McMaster University, Canada, called the shy and introverted are not in the same category.
In his book The Develeopment of Shyness and Social Withdrawal, Schmidt explained that the shy to be in the nature of a person's category while among others. While introverts belong to the desire or willingness to be among other people.
In other words, someone who is not shy do not want to be in a group or crowd. It's just that they feel uncomfortable and uneasy although could do with a good social interaction.
"While introverts are described as people who are more than happy with the state of calm or quiet. But that does not mean they are shy. They're more pleasure from his own, but did the group's activities is not a problem for them," explained Schmidt, cited in Psychology Today,
In popular culture, people difficult to see these differences. Enjoying the solitude deemed afraid to mingle. Instead, they are uncomfortable being in a crowded place called too happy to be alone.
Schmidt explained that indeed there are those who are classified as well as a shy introvert. Likewise, there are an introvert but jolly, extrovert at once jolly and extrovert but shy.
"Personality and behavior of these people will be very different. On the other hand, nothing is fixed and certain. People who are shy can eliminate these properties with age. People who introvert may be extroverted, even though it was hard to do," he said.
