Thirty minutes of contemporary dance with intense motion, swinging arms and move the body properly, can burn 293 calories. While running can only burn 264 calories, and 249 calories swim. Not just skinny, dancing can also improve your psychological health.
Dr Nick Smeeton from the University of Brighton said, "Dancing is not appeared only to increase positive
energy and reducing negative energy but also help you lose weight."
To obtain this result, he and his colleague Dr Gary Brickley and a team of researchers from the Department of Sport and Exercise Science to first conduct an analysis of a group of students aged 24 to 38.
Then 15 dancers from London's City Academy took part, in which the researchers also measured the heart rate measure, the distance they traveled, the energy they spend, and their psychological state.
During the practice session took the form of ballet, contemporary, salsa and swing dance for 30 minutes, they were dressed in vests catapults that can monitor the heart rate of energy released at the same time.
The result, in addition to finding their emotions are more stable, investigators flabbergasted by the fact that contemporary dance, street, and swung burn more calories than they are cycling, swimming, walking at the same time.
To ensure accurate results, the researchers also took into account weight, age, and fitness level of each dancer.
As quoted from the Daily Mail, Dr Smeeton said, very surprised to find ballet is considered mild exercise has great benefits like this.
