Everyone will senile when his brain function begins to decline, but some experience it more quickly than others. Always up late can also be interpreted as signs of dementia would be faster, particularly for women.
A study at the California Pacific Medical Center Research Institute revealed that the risk of developing dementia more rapidly can be linked to biological clock or circadian rhythms. The biological clock regulates sleep patterns and cycles of daily activity.
People with strong biological clocks tend to get up early, then started work at an earlier time than others. Instead of people who have a weak biological clocks tend to wake up later and more active in the afternoon or evening.
To see the relationship with the risk of dementia, the researchers looked at 1,300 healthy women aged over 75 years. At the end of the observation for 5 years, 15 percent had dementia or dementia and 24 percent experienced Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) or dementia light.
When compared with the results of the interview, participants were awakening the day and less active in the morning had a 80 percent greater risk for experiencing mild dementia. Not that triggered by waking up late, but the habit is believed to indicate a greater risk.
"We understand that this is the first study to reveal the close relationship between physical activity associated with the biological clock suffered dementia risk," said Greg Tranah who led the study as quoted by AP.
Tranah plans to continue its research to uncover the real reason. Current expectations are unclear, whether biological clock directly affect or change the biological clock only signifies that the brain has decreased function that causes dementia.
