Too Much Eating Sushi Can Disrupt Thyroid Hormones


Currently one of the sushi is becoming a much-loved community meals. But it should not be too frequent, because eating too much sushi can adversely affect the thyroid gland.

Studies conducted by dieticians Association of Australia has warned that eating too much sushi can be bad for health. This is because the seaweed wrap sushi can be harmful to the thyroid gland if consumed in excess.

In these studies note that levels of iodine contained in seaweed are high, so experts recommend not to consume more than 2-3 sushi rolls in a week.

Experts recommend the highest number of the recommended daily intake of iodine is 150 micrograms per day. If the intake of iodine that enters the body it will lead to excessive hyperthyroidism (excess thyroid hormone).

The thyroid gland removes iodine from the blood and use it to produce thyroid hormones. Sources of iodine is mostly derived from foods such as seafood, bread and salt.

Excess thyroid hormone is more common in women than men. How to diagnose it by performing laboratory tests to look at the levels of the hormone T3, T4 and THS. If high levels of thyroid hormone and hormone levels THS low, this indicates an overactive thyroid gland.

Symptoms appear when excess thyroid hormone is like a finger shaking, heart palpitations, weight loss, like excessive sweating, reduced concentration, headaches such as tingling and irregular menstrual cycles. If not handled properly can cause complications later.

The thyroid is a gland located in the front of the neck that is shaped like a butterfly and often easy to be touched. This gland produces thyroid hormone that functions stimulating the metabolism of the cells in the body.
