Genetic factors and education is often touted as being a major influence on a person's intelligence. However, a recent study claims that the disease is far more influence intelligence.
Scientists from the University of New Mexico analyzed the value of IQ (Intelligence Quotient) in the United States and found that exposure to infectious diseases greatly affect brain power.
The reason is because people, especially children, to devote much energy to the work processes of the brain. If the disease is draining happens then kecerdasanlah is sure to be a victim. The discovery is reported in the journal Scientific American.
style="text-align: justify;">"Infectious disease is a factor that may rob large amounts of energy from the development of the brain. The evidence suggests that infectious disease is a major cause of human intelligence bervaraisinya globally," said study author Christopher Eppig as reported by the Daily Mail.
Epigg and his team have examined theories on what can be tested to influence IQ levels including education, wealth, and the idea that people who live farther away from sub-Saharan increasingly clever with the idea that the brain does not have to try hard to ensure survival. But because conditions vary elsewhere, the theory is that the thinking process is necessary to survive, thus causing IQ rises.
However, after seeing the level of intelligence across America, Eppig and his team dismissed these theories. "The countries with the five lowest average IQ levels of infectious diseases is higher than the state average of five highest IQ," says Eppig.
He hopes his team's hypothesis would allow people to help improve IQ in the world more efficiently. "If the main factors are genetic factors as has been proposed a few people, then the value of IQ would tend to be very difficult to change," said Eppig.
