For some people do multitasking is not a difficult job, but not for people with autism. The study found a job multitasking will be a challenge that is quite difficult for people with autism.
Studies conducted by Indian researchers revealed people with autism will find it difficult to perform multitasking because they tend to be rigid to perform tasks sequentially.
In this study, the researchers gave the students a series of tasks, such as collecting and delivering a book and making a cup of hot chocolate that everything must be
done within 8 minutes.
These activities are carried out in a virtual environment generated by computer. Researchers found the students did not deviate from the task sequence on the list, but they violate some rules tasks.
The study was led by Dr Gnanathusharan Rajendran, as a lecturer in Psychology at Strathclyde, and involves researchers from the University of Edinburgh and Liverpool John Moores University.
"Students with autism can finish well when given a task, but the difficulty will arise when she was asked to perform several tasks at the same time," said Dr Rajendran, as quoted Medindia
Dr Rajendran said this study is the first time using a virtual environment, so they can be closer to check and see if the problem is reversed.
"Our research shows that the real problem in young people with autism who do multitasking, and more research is needed to find a solution that is possible," he said.
