7 Failure Scientific Expedition It Really Ends Fatal

We now are able to enjoy all the ease thanks to scientists in the past. As the first to conduct experiments and expeditions, they face many risks that not infrequently is also dangerous.
Behind every discovery of the expedition was amazing, there was planning, hard work, and the dangers that follow. The expedition was preplanned beforehand are still at risk of failure. Moreover, already begins with mistakes and failures from the start?

1. Search 'Z'

Crossing the wild jungle inhabited by jaguars, poisonous snakes, the local population is hostile, disease, and other danger is certainly require preparation that can not be arbitrary. But who knows what is in the mind of an archaeologist and explorer Percy Fawcett until he went into the wilderness for granted.

He is convinced that there is a lost city hidden in the western part of the Brazilian jungle. According to him, the city is filled with gold and important secrets of human civilization. In 1925, instead of hiring a local guide, he was with a boy friend and her son go into the woods alone. Since then, the three of them were never seen again.
2. The North Pole Expedition S.A. Andrée

A blimp with a steering system that created its own plans to bring an engineer, physicist, aviator and polar explorer Salomon August Andrée from Turkey to the North Pole via Russia or Canada. However, this system was not functioning and quite dangerous. Worse, Andrée never tested this balloon before flying and refused to change the plan despite knowing that the basket of the balloon too full of scientific equipment.

In 1897, Andrée finally departed with 2 friends. 10 hours and 29 minutes later, he made contact with the mainland before it crashed 41 minutes later. No one was injured in the crash, but Andrée did not bring any equipment or clothing to survive. After three months in the Arctic and walked to the island Kvitøya, they died.
3. Soyuz 1

In 1967, the space expedition is at its peak, but Russia has never been sending astronauts again within 2 years. Soyuz 1 spacecraft is a program designed to send astronauts into space Vladimir Komarov. The plan, Soyuz 2 will also be dispatched the next day before the Soyuz 1 sent home back to earth. Furthermore, the mission of the Soyuz 2 Soyuz 1 plus repairing damaged in outer space.

But because of the storm, Soyuz 2 and Soyuz launch canceled 1 return to Earth without repairs. That's when the unfortunate event occurred on Soyuz 1. The combination of a mechanical failure, the main parachute failed to open, and reserve parachutes were tangled make it crashed directly hit the earth and astronaut Komarov in it. Before the departure of Soyuz 1, it turns out test flights to prove the number of failures and more than 200 design errors reported by the technicians, but the mission still forwarded.
4. Burke and Wills

In 1860, a club Melbourne scientists and businessmen decided to fund an expedition to the heart of the Australian continent which has not been explored to study the flora and fauna there and find a way of reaching the Gulf of Carpentaria. But instead of looking for an experienced explorer to lead the expedition, they instead chose men who did not have the ability to survive in the wild and had no reason, Robert O'Hara Burke.

Along with William John Wills and 19 men, Burke went to the hinterland. But he was carrying even essential goods such as bathtubs, oak table and stool. Burke, Wills, and two other men managed to get to the destination, but they were running low on food and supplies on the way home. Burke and Wills died of starvation. Meanwhile seven other men died on the expedition, and only one person who survived returned to Melbourne.
5. Terra Nova Expedition

In 1910, Robert Falcon Scott and four others on an expedition to become the first man to reach the South Pole. But it turns out in 1912, they discovered that their team lost 1 month with the Norwegian team. The team has experienced many difficulties from the outset as a horse of burden that birds, the food supply is lost due to the storm, and the lack of knowledge about nutrition.

At that time they did not know that vitamin C can prevent scurvy, a disease characterized by weakness, anemia, gum inflammation and bleeding skin. Even the food rations that had been planned was less than half the number of calories needed. Finally, on the way home all members died of cold, fatigue and hunger.
6. Amelia Earhart

A prominent figure of the earliest women's emancipation, Amelia Earhart was not satisfied just to be the first to circumnavigate the globe. He intends to take the longest route, ie on the equator at a distance of 40 070 km. He intends to record, contributing to science, and to publish his book.

Although the plane has been modified with a fuel tank wider, routes taken Earhart is very difficult terrain. He disappeared in 1937 while attempting to complete the journey as far as 4 thousand kilometers from New Guinea to Howland Island. People believe that the shortage of fuel into the cause of his ship crashed and sank without a trace. The expedition is then referred to as the expedition with poor planning and implementation are much worse.
7. Challenger

In 1986, bad weather and ignored warnings from NASA and the space shuttle Challenger launched fixed. Only 73 seconds after taking off, the plane exploded and sank in the Atlantic Ocean fractions. Although initially some of the seven members of the crew survived in the initial outbreak of the plane, the absence of self-rescue system to get out of the plane ended up killing all the crew on the plane.

Administrators know with possible fatal error in the O-ring, these errors result from damage to the cause of the accident chain. But they did not mention this issue and does not convey these concerns to the leadership of the technicians. As a result, the Challenger mission, killing the entire crew in the plane.
An expedition is as it should be prepared carefully and earnestly. Especially if it aims to go into the wild. Actually, this kind of preparation is not only important for the expedition of a scientific nature, even for the purpose of travel into the wild, need preparation and vigilance. We never know what might happen, therefore, any sign, error, or the slightest damage worth noting.
