To deal with the sunlight that were increasingly hot, the sun cream is urgently needed. But the results of a survey conducted this year's Macmillan Cancer Support shows that not enough women using sun cream.
In the survey found that nearly 1 in 4 people are planning not to use sun cream when on holiday. This condition causes a great concern to numerous cases of sunburn that could potentially skin cancer.
British Association of Dermatologists also has shown great concern on the issue.
Polling was held involving 1,500 women Macmillan and the results showed 22 percent of participants do not use sun cream when on vacation in a tropical country.
"When asked why the participants had never used sun cream, 24 percent said their skin was sunburned, 14 percent of them think of sun cream is too expensive, while 12 percent believe that the lotion is not impervious to the sun," Macmillan said as quoted by the BBC,
Carol Goodman, a nurse from Macmillan said, "Many people who were getting out of the country for the annual holiday, but it is worrying the fact that nearly a quarter of British women put themselves at risk of skin cancer by not wearing any sun cream on holiday".
More than 2,500 people die from skin cancer each year, so this is an issue that is really real.
Data from the British Association of Dermatologists also showed that 92 percent of people have experienced sunburn at least once in a lifetime. In fact, 1 in 3 people claimed to have experienced it more than 10 times.
Stephen Jones, president of the British Association of Dermatologists said that the skin of each person is different.
Not all skin offer the same protection against the sun so it is important for you to know your own level of risk.
For example, pale-skinned people who sunburn easily or people whose families have a history of skin cancer is greater risk of skin damage from the sun so take extra handling to protect himself.
