Oxygen is needed by the body to move. However, there are times when the body can not be forced to get normal oxygen supply, such as when a person undergoing a surgical procedure.
Now, to prevent the body is deprived of oxygen, recently researchers from the University of Tokyo said they are developing electronic devices 'skin' or E-skin that can calculate the oxygen levels in the body. Use of this tool aims to help monitor the oxygen levels in the organ during surgery.
Researchers revealed, E-Skin is now in the stage of human testing. Mentioned, the device contains a micro-electronic components which will glow red, blue, or green on the body surface. "E-Skin measure the concentration of oxygen in the blood, when glued to the finger," said lead researcher Tomoyuki Yokota, quoted by the BBC
Tomoyuki added at the end, a flexible organic optical sensors would be bonded to the organ you want to see the levels of oxygen, so that the blood oxygen levels during and after surgery can be monitored.
