30 Seconds Heart Health Check

Many people think it costs expensive and a long time to check the heart. Though there are some easy steps that can be done even just 30 seconds to check the health of the heart.

Coronary heart disease is sometimes known as late or severe symptoms that often can not be helped. But the body is already sending out signals before they reach it.

Here are some things you can do for 30 seconds to help check the condition of the heart, as quoted from Menshealth.com, namely:

1. Understand the heart rate at rest
The average heart rate at rest (Resting Heart Rate / RHR) is a well-known tool to determine the health of the heart. RHR is the ideal value should not be more than 70 beats per minute, if more then the heart work too hard.

A recent study from the American Medical Association showed that people who value RHR of less than 70 beats per minute or more than 85 beats per minute for 10 years, then 90 percent more likely to die from heart disease than people who value a stable RHR.

In addition, if the value increased more than 5 times per minute in 2 years time, try to talk with the cardiologist how down so stable.

2. Check the color of the nail
Joseph Jorizzo, MD, professor of dermatology at Wake Forest Baptist Health Center said the nail bed is a good indicator for heart health. If the color changes to black, blue or red, then there could be a problem.

Black and blue flecks or streaks called purpura may indicate circulatory problems and diseases that cause blood clotting. If the color red could be a sign of congestive heart disease. If there are major changes in nail color, you should consult with a physician.

3. Try to see the eyelids
Xanthomas, the accumulation of fat in the skin is caused by high cholesterol, usually yellowish in color and are found on the upper eyelid. One reason is excess fat in the blood that accumulates in the cells of the skin.

Anne Hamik, MD, a professor at Case Western Reserve University Cardiovascular Research Institute said that if high levels of blood fats can increase the risk of vascular problems (arteries) and coronary heart disease, which can lead to heart attack, stroke and poor blood circulation.

Increasing the amount of fat will be stored in the cells lining the blood vessels. If the cell is broken, then the fat is released into the blood vessels, blocking specific parts and lead to a heart attack or stroke. Therefore know the amount of total cholesterol in the body.
