Maybe, you never questioned why the cabin lights were dimmed ahead of the aircraft landing process.

More recently, a pilot disclose the reason. According to him, making the cabin dark when the landing process have important meaning.

Apparently, it is part of a security procedure that may save the lives of the passengers.


"Imagine being in the room when foreigners were bright and full of obstacles, then someone turned off the lights and ask you to leave," said a pilot, Chris Cooke answered questions readers of Travel + Leisure magazine, as quoted by News.com.au,

He added, would be much more
difficult for the eyes to adjust to the passengers - from light to dark out who, if an emergency situation occurs.

Dim the cabin lights before declining air intended to prepare the passengers to find their way to the emergency exit, especially to find the signs toward the exit that deliberately light in the hallway airplanes.




There are also health and safety reasons behind the instruction so that the passengers open the shutters before landing.
