An archeological excavation on Tuesday revealed the existence of the ruins of 16th century castle, right in the middle of the city center of Lille in France.
Excerpted from The Local on the findings revealed after allegations related to the ancient building of the National Institute for Preventive Archaeological Research (Inrap).
Excavation covers an area of 5,800 square meters which is located close to the business district and residential areas Fives Euralilie. In residential areas it was going to be the development of housing.
Archaeologists stunned to discover that the site had been inhabited since the year 1 BC. There are a few relics of the inhabitants of the castle there.

"The castle is strengthened quite luxurious, with a host of modern fittings unexpected opening," said archaeologist Vincent Lascour.
Lascour said, finding furniture including glassware from Venice in Italy, and silver spoons that reflects the luxurious lifestyle of the inhabitants.

But the tale of the castle was not dwell matter sumptuous dinner.
Around the fort also found metal bullets from guns and rocks. Objects that allegedly showed conflicts between French and Flemish, and prove the strategic position of the city of Lille.
