Recent photos of Pluto shows the ancient crater dark bordering the glacier. Researchers also believe that Pluto has a hill through the area that appears to show a shadow.
Geologists William McKinnon of Washington University said Pluto "truly wild" when there are dunes, given that the planet has a thin atmosphere. Researchers also estimated that the mountain or hill in the Pluto is a large floating ice.
Judging from the geological features, the photos captured New Horizons shows that Pluto has several layers of atmospheric haze. New Horizons can study the effects that occur at Pluto due to the fog, which had never been observed by scientists.
