Aged Human Footprints Found 800,000 Year in Norfolk, England

Traces of early human foot left by humans outside Africa, have been found in estuary mud in Norfolk. The most important discovery in the coast of England, and was estimated to be 800,000 years old.
The footprints were found in Happisburgh, after being exposed to the tides of the sea. Scientists believe that the footprints are the first evidence of a human being in Northern Europe, previously only revealed through the discovery of animal bones and stone tools.

The patented surface traces, visible when the sea receded. Of the 50 footprints found, only about twelve that looks fairly complete, while two showed traces of toes in detail.

Doctor Nick Ashton was watching footprints.
"We do not know what we see. But it's not like we have seen before," said Doctor Nick Ashton of the British Museum to the Mail Online.

Even when it rains, Dr Ashton and his team work to record the surface before eroded by sea water.

Over the next two weeks, the team used photogrammetry, a technique that can bring digital photos to create a permanent record and 3D images of the surface.

Analysis of these images confirmed that the elongated hollow, indeed ancient human footprints, perhaps of five people.

"I remember when found, this is the human footprint. Without a doubt the oldest human footprints in Europe and some of the oldest in the world," said Dr. Ashton.

Dr Ashton explains the findings, in the scientific journal PLoS ONE, the "discovery really incredible."

The team is now working with local communities, to monitor the area and will be combing the nearby locations with the hope of finding footprints and human bones.
