Maple Syrup Could Relieve Inflammation?

molecule identified in maple syrup have anti-inflammatory properties. Arthritis and other inflammatory diseases could one day be treated with medications which contain molecules quebecol of maple syrup.
Discovered in 2011, quebecol is the result of chemical reactions during the process of making syrup which converts natural polyphenols in maple syrup. After successfully bringing together quebecol and derivatives, Universite Laval researchers under the supervision of
Normand Voyer, chemists and Faculty of Science and Engineering, to evaluate the anti-inflammatory content.
They called Daniel Grenier, who developed an in vitro model to ensure the anti-inflammatory potential of these natural molecules.
"We take blood cells called macrophages and combine it with toxic bacteria," explains Professor Grenier, quoted from page Medindia
"Macrophages usually reacts by triggering an inflammatory response. But if the nature of the medium containing the anti-inflammatory molecules, this response will be blocked," reads the research results.
The researchers conducted tests that showed quebecol limit macrophage inflammatory responses, and some derivatives are even more effective than the original molecule.
"Derivative most of the power structure is simpler and easier to put together than quebecol," said Normand Voyer. The study was published in the journal Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry Letters.
