Each Year There are 8.2 Million People in the World Dies Due to Cancer


Every year around the world, there are 8.2 million people died of cancer. Two-thirds of that amount coming from low and middle income countries, and more than half of these deaths could be prevented.
So says WHO Regional Director for South East Asia Dr Poonam Khetrapal Singh in a press release commemorating the World Cancer Day,
According to Poonam, there are several risk factors associated with cancer can be prevented such as avoiding tobacco and its smoke. "Cigarettes (including smoke) is the cause of 22 percent of cancer deaths in the world, and a major cause of disease in Southeast Asia."
In addition, alcohol consumption, poor diet and lack of physical activity is another contributor to the impact on the social, economic and development also affects a person.
In Southeast Asia, Poonam said, accidents and exposure to substances in the environment continues to be a source of cancer and premature death. Is exposure to the sun in the fields or chemicals in the plant, the workers continue to be exposed to cause cancer.
"Air pollution also increases the risk of cancer in all of us. In this area, there are 14 cities with the highest pollution so that the government needs to make it a edaruratan. The high chronic infection caused by Human papillomavirus (HPV), hepatitis B, hepatitis C and Helicobacter pylori became marker of the growing importance of cancer prevention, "he said.
This year, WHO marks World Cancer Day (4 February) from 2016 to 2018 as an important event with the theme "We Can. I can".
