Until now, no scientist knows for sure where the location of happiness in our brains. But a team of scientists from Universiry Kyoto, Japan, has conducted a study of the emotions a person. And they claim to have been a little closer to finding happiness locations in the human brain.
The researchers used MRI to scan the brains of volunteers who belong to the people who tend to live happily. These people are people who are more likely to feel happy and satisfied with their lives.
MRI scans designate an area of the brain called the precuneus, an area in the medial parietal lobe is located at the top of the brain, toward the back of the organ. The researchers noted that the area is very active when people experience consciousness.
People who feel more intense happiness, feel sad less intense, and more able to find meaning in life has a greater precuneus, according to research published in the Scientific Journal of 20 November.
"Over history, many leading scientists such as Aristotle had pondered what it was happiness. I am very pleased that we now know more about what it means to be happy "said study leader, Wataru Sato.
Sato even theorized that these findings would allow for even one day help people train themselves to be happier. Sato gave an example of one of them with meditation. "Some studies show that meditation increases the gray matter in the precuneus. It is useful to develop a program based on scientific research happiness "said Sato.
