As reported Dailymail, December 30, 2015, after undergoing a series of research, experts believe what was found Jose is a shell belonging to the ancient animals glyptodonts. It is estimated that glyptodonts live until the age of 10,000 years, before dying during a very cold ice age.

"It may have been buried there to die, or he deliberately digging the muddy soil to protect against attacks by the ice storm and eventually die because they can not come out of the closet" said Dr Ross MacPhee, a curator in a museum of history in America.

Glyptodonts are the ancestors of animals that are now known as the Armadillo. Similarly, the Armadillo, glyptodonts can be found throughout the South American region. These ancient animals have been living on Earth for 10 million years before going extinct tens of thousands of years ago during the last ice age.
