Apparently, the disease 'Modern' Heart Already Found Centuries Then

Rennes - Heart disease is often referred to as a 'disease of modern man'. However, recent discoveries prove that assumption is not appropriate.

Researchers from the National Institute for Preventive Archaeological Research, France, finding no sign of disease in a heart that is preserved in the grave site.

The heart they found five heart-shaped vase in Rennes, France. The bowl is part of a burial site in the local monastery.

Using MRI and CT scans to examine the heart is preserved, researchers found signs of heart disease, including plaque lining the arteries. Some networks had rehydrated or given back process making it easier for experts to study it.

The heart of recorded there since the 16th century until the early 17th century. "Four out of five cardiac stored properly, we were able to see the signs of a disturbance of health conditions like today, such as plaque and atherosclerosis," said the author of the study Fatima-Zohra Mokrane, radiological from Rangueil Hospital at the University Hospital of Toulouse, on ABC News,

Not only similarity in heart disease who become unexpected discovery, the vital organs of the body also showed a typical burial practices. The heart of a man was found buried in the bowl with his wife.

"It is a common practice in that era to be buried with the heart's husband or wife," said Mokrane. "It happened with one of the heart of our findings. This is the most romantic aspects of the burial."

Dr. Daniel Munoz, cardiologist at Vanderbilt University, said the discovery opens a new viewpoint on how heart disease affects people from time to time.

"It's obvious heart disease has been around longer than 'their behavior and lifestyle issues'," said Munoz. "It speaks to the fact that there are genetic components that influence."

Munoz said that, in the modern era researchers already have better equipment in the fight against heart disease through medication, surgery, and education. However, other factors such as obesity, diabetes and smoking remains a problem.
