Where Departure of Water on Mars ?. The next NASA spacecraft will reportedly be launched to Mars on November 18, 2013. The US space agency researching where to go in the water on the planet.
Mars previously believed to store water, and even had a large amount of water such as the ocean. Scientists said the water content on Mars ever existed billions of years ago.
Reported Universetoday, Friday (11/15/2013), Mars has a thick atmosphere like Earth and is believed never to have the flow of water on its surface. Billions of years ago, Mars is believed to have warmer temperatures, more humid and support for the emergence of life.
Mars lost its atmosphere approximately 3.5 billion years ago. The atmosphere is experiencing thinness and reduced pressure. At that time, the water evaporates and Mars turned cold as it is today.
"Where water and carbon dioxide away from the atmosphere of early Mars? What mechanism ?," asked Bruce Jakosky of MAVEN, University of Colorado. MAVEN spacecraft is NASA's new Mars will venture.
MAVEN stands for Mars Atmosphere and Volatile Evolution. "We do not know which drives changes (in the atmosphere of Mars)," said Jakosky.
By studying and understanding the specific processes in the upper atmosphere of Mars, MAVEN will find out how and why the atmosphere and water on Mars disappear. Scientists are also finding out the effects that occur in the history of climate and habitability on Mars.
