known British actor cast as Severus Snape in the Harry Potter films, has reportedly died on January 14, 2016, at the age of 69 years. In a statement issued by the family, said that the star who has worked for three decades, died as a result of his cancer illness.
"Actor and director, Alan Rickman, has died of cancer at the age of 69. He was surrounded by family and friends" said a statement from the family, as reported by ABC News, January 14, 2016.
London-born star started his career in the theater, including the Royal Shakespeare Company, before winning the election roles in TV dramas such as Smiley's People and The Barchester Chronicles in the 1980s.
