Dreams are subconscious experience involving sight, hearing, thoughts, feelings, or senses when in a sleep state or the resting state. When we sleep usually be accompanied by rapid eye movement, or the so-called rapid eye movement (REM).
Similar to humans, dogs can also dream. What is the dream? Not everyone has the ability to interpret dreams every fauna that exist in this world as is commonly done in humans.
For example if a puppy leg twitches during sleep, whether it means dreaming dog chased the rabbit?
According to the
researchers, it may happen. However, some studies have shown that a dog is not just a dream, but they tend to move like a human dream activity.
"Dogs can dream," said a professor of psychology at the University of British Columbia and author of the book "Do Dogs Dream?" Stanley Cohen.
To the website Live Science, Cohen explains the structure of these animals have time to sleep longer than men in general.
In the journal Physiological Behavior 1977, quoted by LiveScience, recorded brain activity in six breeds pointer for 24 hours while sleeping spend 44 percent of their warning time, 21 percent of drowsiness, and as much as 12 percent when in a state of sleeping or REM.
They also spent time in a situation of non-REM sleep as much as 23 percent. Non-REM or NREM sleep is the quiet phase.
In addition to the dogs, REM and non-REM also found in mice. These animals can also dream.
Matthew Wilson, a cognitive scientist from an institute of technology in Massachusetts explains, while falling asleep or in the REM phase of neuronal activity in the brain or nervous system of mice will increase after they walk in a labyrinth. That means that this animal will perform the same activities when awakened.
Average non-REM phase in mice would happen pattern of brain waves that are shorter and faster. This pattern appears only when a nap after doing various activities.
