10 Years desertion, Russian Army Found Hiding in the Forest


Moscow - Russian police find a man who is known to have deserted the country's compulsory military service. The soldier turned out had been hiding in the forest for 10 years, never notify his family and reported its existence to the local government.
The soldier is now 30 years old but his identity was not divulged to the public. At age 19 he was conscripted and housed in a remote area on the Kamchatka Peninsula for a year.
"After a year in charge, he suddenly disappeared from his unit. However, during this time he did not go anywhere, just in Kamchatka alone, hiding in the woods," the statement the regional government of Southern Russia, as reported by The Guardian,
"He can survive with tinker and had no desire to contact his family," the report added.
Searches soldiers desertions been done in cities in southern Russia, but stopped when his family found the body of a man who thought like him. Then, the family buried.
The deserters reportedly make their own home from items wreck construction outside the town Kamchatka. He could survive because of work on a pig farm, scavenging and more haphazard work.
According to Russian law, renegade soldiers could face seven years in jail custody. In 2003, the country imposed a mandatory military service for two years. Previous even 3 years.
Valentina Melnikova, told Union soldier's mother said that she was not sure of the deserters this time will be punished by imprisonment.
"There have been many desertions of soldiers who happened at that time when the placement is done in the Far East. We have plenty of cases when they are found in the cellar for a few years. However, they checked into a mental health professional and then released," he said.
Unfortunately, the Russian military prosecutor's office had no comment on the case.
