Mystery Blood Rain In Spain Finally Revealed

Villagers in northwest Spain were shocked at last fall when they saw that the lake near their home turned red with blood. Blood red is not man-made but is caused by a microscopic algae that brought the recent rain.
But at that time no one knew what caused the lake water turned red with blood. Speculation is rampant, Some call it the contamination that fell from an airplane or a rain of extraterrestrial origin.

Joaquin Perez, a villager who lives near the lake decided to collect samples of rain water in the lake to find out what the cause so that the lake water is discolored.

Over the next few months, Perez collect water samples to see particles of blood-red water until He sends the water samples for further study to the University of Salamanca.

In a study finally Mystery Blood Rain that occurs in the lake revealed. Red colored water in the lake is filled with freshwater microscopic algae called Haematococcus pluvialis which produce red pigments when they are reacting. Bacteria in the family Chromatiaceae may have caused the blood-red water on a lake in Texas in 2011 ago.

The scientists were surprised to see Pluvialis Haematococcus existing northern hemisphere, especially in North America and along the Atlantic coastline in Europe but practically non-existent in Spain. "They have to come from somewhere else," said geologist Javier Fernández-Lozano, co-author of the study.

Analysts weather data show that algae can be brought up to northwest Spain through the rain and wind. But the origin of the blood rains that occurred in northwest Spain until now unknown.
