Apparently There Gladiator Colosseum Also in Tuscany

                                                                                                                                                                                                     Archaeologists have found the remains of an ancient amphitheater similar to the Colosseum in Rome. Hailed as one of the most important discoveries of its kind in the last 100 years, dilapidated foundations of the ancient arena is being unearthed at a dig site in the city of Volterra, Tuscany region.

In its heyday the impressive structure can accommodate more than 10,000 spectators who will flock there to watch gladiator and animal fights in a fierce duel to the death.

Compared with the Colosseum in Rome, of course, still far less extent, because in Rome can accommodate more than 50,000 people.

"Finding new light on the history of Volterra is most famous for Etruscan heritage," said Elena Sorge archaeologist who headed the excavation.

"This shows that during the reign of the emperor Augustus, this place is the center of important Roman."

Although the size of the structure and meaning does not exist at all in the text recorded history.

"This is really confusing, because there are no historical records noted the impressive amphitheater," said Sorge. "Probably, the place was abandoned at a certain time and gradually covered by vegetation as time goes."
